Description
Bulbophyllum aestivale is part of the section Leptopus. Professor Oakes Ames named this Bulbophyllum in 1915 in his Studies in the Family Orchidaceae- Fascicle V. The specific epipthet refers to the summer flowering habit of this beautiful, miniature Bulbophyllum. It is endemic to the Philippines. It grows as an epiphyte at an elevations of around 1,000 metres.
Growth habit: upright, sympodial
Flower colour: The sepals and petals are orange with sparse reddish markings. The labellum is deep red, edges colored yellow.
