Description
Vanda merrillii section Deltoglossa. Professor Oakes Ames and Dr. Eduardo Quisumbing named this species in 1932, in the Philippine Journal of Science. They named the orchid after Dr. Elmer Merill who did a lot of work on Philippine plants.
Habitat and Distribution: Vanda merrillii is endemic to the Philippines. It grows at elevations of about 500 metres as an epihyte.
Growth habit: upright, monopodial, becomes semi- pendolous in old plants.
Flower colour: yellow, heavily marked with red and appears as if they are varnished. Labellum is brown with reddish stripes.
